Due to the different motherboard, it’s actually a completely different printers. Many of the essential community software and tools that have been developed for the original Photon are not compatible and do not work with the S model.
The hardware, software and other differences are:
– Anycubic slicing software instead of Chitu CBD-Tech slicer. Photon-S sliced files cannot be printed on original Photon, and vice versa.
– 10mm taller print capability on the Z axis.
– Exposure unit consists of a 38W 4X7 UV LED lensed array instead of a 25W 4X4 UV LED reflector cone source.
– Plastic shell/chassis instead of all metal stamped steel chassis.
– Dual “filtration” units instead of a single unit.
– Most other components such as the LCD, vat, build plate, carriage arm and etc. are the same.
